Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Last Action Hero is a great movie, a more amusing and reflexive look at the film industry you couldn't wish to see. If only the game of the same name could have had such verve and wit (Blimmin' heck! He thinks he's Barry Norman).
Unfortunately, the dish served up is a bland beat-em-up with numerous characters skating around à la Michael Jackson's Moonwalk, seemingly performing some kind of bizarre ghetto morris dance.
When I say numerous, the same folk appear with alarming regularity - just when you think you've disposed of someone, back they come trundling along the pavement - sorry, sidewalk - for another taste of your medicine. And it's not a palatable potion.
Some of the moves old Arnie - sorry, I mean Jack - performs are quite nifty but on the whole, Last Action Hero is a sorry affair. Film licences eh? Who needs 'em. Play something else.
